1. Different People Have Different Transportation Needs and Desires
There are a wide variety of users of our transportation system and many users depend, either by choice or necessity, on different modes of transportation. Users of our transportation system include:
- Children going to schools, parks, and friends' houses
- Residents traveling to in-county jobs
- Residents traveling to community activities or running errands
- Long-distance commuters traveling "over the hill" or to Monterey County
- Emergency services personnel
- Wheelchair users, seniors and other people with specialized transportation needs
- People who might not be able to afford to drive
- College students going to class
- Transportation providers: such as buses, taxis, and paratransit vehicles
- People walking, biking or driving for recreation
- Visitors - here for just the day or longer stays
- People driving through our county
- Commercial traffic that provide goods and services within our county
